Hi all. My character's name is Nycea, and I'm leveling through Knight currently, on my way to Swordsinger. I really like the class concept, and it's something a little different from what I usually play in fantasy games.
I've been hearing a lot of great things about the guild from Drakkos, and am extremely interested in joining. I've been in various games over the years, and have a lot of experience with it. Nycea follows a fairly typical bard archetype I pull out for fun every once in a while. The character is pretty solidly neutral, more interested in writing and singing about the events of the world than actually being a player in them. That said, her connection with the events often leads to her to be at least a minor player in the aftermath whether she likes it or not.
That's pretty much Nycea in a nutshell. And yes, I'm a guy playing a girl. The male elves look like women anyway, so I figured I might as well play one with nice legs.
A bit about me: I'm 18, and I live a few minutes east of Charlottesville, Virginia. I've been gaming since I was 11. 7 years isn't a long time for some, but it's essentially how I've grown up, and it's a pretty big part of my life. I'm a self-proclaimed music nerd, and an exceptionally picky anime fan.
Hope to hear back from you all soon!
Best compliments, ~Nycea

couldnt have said it better myself. glad to meet you.
i take it youve peeked at the skill tree from Lineage2.com for swordsinger and have a fair understanding of your class's capabilities. tell me if you will or can, which type of weapon do you figure you will fare best with? you may use ANY weapon to sing, but SOME weapons offer some things that others dont; for example: the Dagger swings the fastest, crits the most, but misses quite a lot. the sword is slower, crits les, but hits more. the blunt crits rarely but is almost guaranteed to hit. and the bow provides the greatest spike damage but runs you out of money faster.
your Knight skills will rarely be of value to you post-level40. with the exception of Ultimate defense.
what armor did you plan on using? have you seen the sets from lineage2.com's item library?
do you wear armor for looks over performance? dont fret if you do, there are a number of us that do. some of our richer folk have a few different sets for each occasion.

Both my Kamaels are wearing armors that aren't considered the "Best ones" but they look too awesome to let it go And another crossdresser! Whee It's fun to guess whether the girls are really girls and whether the boys are really boys (I'm a crossdresser myself, but in this case, I'm a girl that generally plays boys ). Welcome to the clan, I hope I'll be able to confuse you with my army of alts soon enough. What level is your Knight, by the way? I currently have a 34 Light Elf dagger that I've been leveling, perhaps if you're within range, we can arrange some groups In any case, I'm a little sleepy right now, but I just wanted to say hi and hope to hear from you soon. If you want to PM me, the safest bet is to PM my Shillien Elder, Kiltain. Chances are he'll ALWAYS be online if I am

Hehe, thanks for the responses. My knight's only 20 at the moment, I just transfered a few hours ago and haven't settled on a grinding spot yet. spudnik, as for a weapon I'll likely swap between a one handed sword and shield and a two handed sword. Duals give me no bonus and frankly I'd rather go hit things in the face than fire at range. For armor, I'm not sure yet. I'll probably go with heavy stuff, since after all, that's what I've got the skills in and everything. But that said, experience my change my mind. Some of the light sets have awfully nice bonuses, and that may swing me, though the low pdef of the class is kind of bleh. Again, I'll figure it out with experience. This is my first character since open beta, so I'm basically new to the whole thing. But I've been talking to various people about it for hours now, and I'm sure that swordsinger is where I want to be. As for the looks and performance, that's always been an issue with me. Usually I have an around town set, and a set I actually kill things with, though they may be one in the same on occasion. Sometimes, a piece of armor is just too cool not to wear all the time.

Welcome to the forums and 'back' to the game! Nice to hear from you. We'll try to catch up with you in-game as soon as possible. Sometimes it takes a bit with varied schedules and whatnot. Couple points to emphasize, first is our posted rules--if you haven't read those please make sure you do. Secondly, after you are invited into academy (this is just an explanation of the process) we will start a poll about your application on the member forums. For 2 weeks members can vote if you'd make a good addition to the clan. During that 2 weeks, please make an effort to write down some member names and whisper/pm them in game--ask questions--join groups.....just interact so people can get to know you At some point a new recruit generally gets enough positive votes to be accepted as a full member. This acceptance into Echoes is NOT tied to whether or not you have made it out of the academy or to a particular toon. The voting on all new members is tied to that new PERSON--whether the group wants them included in our clan. So you're 'job' in game as an Echo applicant is to let us see who you are I'm just going over this now since we've had a number of new recruits and I always have to go over it at the invitation time anyway. Hope to catch up to you soon! ~D~

I've already looked up the rules, they're all perfectly reasonable. As is the application process. Thanks for the heads up.

well, you'll need to keep one rule in mind as you progress in the game through each gear set; Weapon BEFORE Armor. when upgrading make sure your weapon comes first. save your adena and make sure youve got the upgrades required for your level. this is especially important as you reach the level 52 and 61 area. you dont NEED the top weapon to play to your fullest capability, but given you MIGHT not be grouped all the time, top weaponry would be an asset.
so, single sword+shield then? very good. not really a huge downside to that.
and after that schpeel now i guess i get to make the most backwards statement ever - when you get into the Academy you'll get the opportunity to quest with your sponsor for Oath armor. a D grade armor set that will prove invaluable in your attempt to save money for Weaponry.
so, not settled on a hunting zone? well, i would be glad to pull mobs for you in the Necropolis of Sacrifice for you later tonight or tomorrow if that would work better - youll need the Oath armor (and the academy invitation) and sign up for the 7 signs competition before we go in. this will take a bit of time and might eat up tonight's hunt.
if Zalryne makes it to 20 and also gets the armor quest done (takes about 30 mins) she would be a great help to you down in that necropolis i mentioned earlier.

I was soloing in the Necropolis last night, that place nearly gave me a heart attack. As long as I only pulled two, I was doing okay, but boy oh boy. Only way I could survive 3 is if Ultimate Defense was up. Having a hunting partner in there would be awesome, though.
A really nice fellow from that clan whose name I can't recall which owns Aden castle gave me a +1 Claymore which I've been using to great effect. It's been an awesome weapon so far, and I'll likely stick with it to save money. The newbie buffs keep me healed very well, so not having a shield hasn't been much of a hindrance.
I'm looking forward to doing the Clan Oath quest, the armor's really pretty.
Edit: Oh by the way, I'm online now, if y'all want to contact me.

It's cool, I had a date with a friend to play Exteel anyway. I'll be back on again later tonight.

That will only get worse as you level. The Swordsinger, after their class change, loses most of the advancements available to true tanks and starts being more of a buffer.
