Anixa slowly walks into a building she has sworn she’ll never visit again. The memories of this place have haunted her for a long time. She stands outside the entrance to the School of Dark Arts and a cold chill runs down her spine. Upon opening the door, she passes out in remembrance of how her sister Zayn died.
Zayn was studying to be a great warrior. She and Anixa had left the village to recover an ancient scroll Kartia needed to translate for Tetrarch Thifiell. It was a short journey to the school; there was an ominous glow about today though. Zayn shrugged off the glow saying “C’mon sis, lets go get those documents. They must be pretty important.” Anixa being young had not noticed the glow on the horizon and was content with being with her older sister.
The walk had been different from the times they had taken it in the past. This time, there was Truman Orcs scattered throughout their homeland. This worried Anixa as she had never seen an Orc before. Zayn comforted her sister, reassuring her she was a great warrior and has never lost a fight.
As they progress further, Anixa gets more worried and clings to Zayn. Quivering, she asks, “You’ll protect me from the orcs, if they attack won’t you sis?”
“Of course I will, I would never let anyone harm you sis,” replied Zayn
Zayn and Anixa take a short break, once they reach the school. Anixa, already alert, hears some commotion inside the building and clings closer to her sister. Zayn shocked ask “What are you scared of Anixa?”
“There is something going on inside the school. I can hear it from here; it sounds like fighting.”
“Let's go check it out. I’m sure there is nothing to worry about.”
Zayn opens the door and finds a Vaiss Orc leader and his many warriors trying to overrun the school. Zayn pushes Anixa aside yelling, “Protect yourself. Don’t let them see you!” As she rushes into to help fight off the horde of orcs. She and the schools warriors and mages is overwhelmed by the number of orcs and are no match for them. Anixa, watching all this from a corner, see’s Zayn die at the hand of the leader.
The orcs finally clear the room and proceed into the school. Once Anixa feels the coast is clear, she ventures out amongst the dead to find Zayn. Kneeling next to Zayn’s side, Anixa begins to cry. “Zayn, I promise to grow up to be Aden’s greatest healer, never letting anyone die in my presence again.”
