Smoke swirled around the girl as the many hooded figures stood over her. None of them spoke, none of them moved. They just stood there...waiting. The doors to the chamber suddenly flung open and Cerberus marched in. The men in cloaks knelt to him. "Is everything ready?" he hissed. One of the men arose and spoke in a voice that seemed...unalive, "Yes, my lord. Only your presence is required now" Cerberus walked over to the girl and removed his hood. He looked down at her perfect body, clothed by nothing more than the mist that wrapped itself around her pale skin. He was fascinated. She was untouched by men, a true oracle chosen by the gods. A gift that could never be opened by anyone expect Einhasad herself. Yet, he desired to to have her, to stain her spotless soul. He realized his thoughts had strayed and he regained his composure. He slowly raised his hands and began to chant, the other men joining in with him. The girl began to thrash about in a seizure-like manner, the smoke rapidly changing colors. They chanted louder, their bodies shaking as they used every ounce of magic they possessed. When the smoke turned black, the girl stopped moving. Cerberus commanded the others to leave, he needed to hear the oracle's prophecy...alone. He looked at her and brushed the white hair from her face. "Tell me, what is it you foresee?" Her eyes were glazed over, she wore no expression, but her words could not have been more clear. "The fires of liberation grow stronger. The child of darkness grows into more. A great scourge awaits the noble one, and he shall perish in the arms of truth. The one called Cerberus will fall." He could not believe what he had heard. "Impossible!" he yelled. He would eradicate her and any who stood his way, he had to. She had seen his face, and he led the group that continuously marauded these lands destroying those who opposed the church. She must be eliminated before things got any worse. He had to get started, there was much to be done if he was to turn the prophecy.
Tobias led Vedette down to his wine cellar where he knew no one could hear them. "You can't be serious, Cerberus is my priest...he's my teacher! Do you have any idea what they would do me just for discussing this with you?" Vedette sighed and explained what happened all those years ago with her parents, and how just the other night, Cerberus practically admitted to being responsible. Tobias stood up and walked to the far corner of the room. "Now it makes sense." Vedette stood up, "What? What makes sense?" His eyes saddened as he spoke, "I understand that you seek vengeance for your own family, and if that were strictly the case I regrettably would refuse to help you. But recently, a group of 'fanatics' have been rampaging Aden and Elmore doing the exact same things that were done to your parents. Only, the church leaders suspect someone is heading up these operations from the inside. They've worked extra hard to cover up these incidents and make it look like there was no religious involvement. Until now, I had no real suspicion that it was one of our own leaders committing these gruesome crimes." Tobias looked deeply troubled as he watched Vedette's expression. "I'm sorry that you had to suffer those trials, I truly am." She looked up at him, "Do not speak of this to anyone. We never met, and I know nothing of what you just told me." She got up to leave but he grabbed her arm, "Where are you going? If you know he'll be looking for you, you can't just wander around. You don't him like I do. He won't stop, and you can't take him on your own." She jerked her arm away from him. "I'll be in touch when the time is right," she said, "just be ready." Tobias watched as she slammed the door and disappeared. And only moments after he climbed the stairs from the cellar back to his home, did he hear a knock at the door. He answered quickly, thinking that she'd come back. But when he opened the door, he did not see Vedette...but Cerberus, and ten of his avid followers. He slowly walked inside, "Tobias, I think we need to have a little chat, hmm?" Tobias backed into the wall as Cerberus and his men advanced into the house, praying that they spared him and his family. Little did he know that he would wishing exactly the opposite before it was all over with.
