Pt 1. The Calm Before The Storm
Dachande tossed and turned in his bed as ye was yet ravaged by another foul dream. Ever since his talk with Tharik the dark knight felt uneasy. The kamael's words burned like a hot brand in his mind.
*****
You should have listened to me when I advised you to never get between us. The words echoed throughout the darkness as Dachande tried to discern which direction they came from. There, behind him. His hands tightened on his twin blades, drawing in their power as he whipped around to swing at his tormentor. Nothing. You are unworthy of her, you never were. She is mine. The voice came from behind and the dark knight whipped around to swing his blades again. The ravenous swords traced thin red arcs across the darkness, their power searching to bite into flesh and devour their target but met nothing but thin air. Laughter, mocking laughter echoed all around him. First one voice, then another and another, until they became an endless wave that never stopped. Dachande dropped the blades and put his hands over his ears to shut it all out, to desperately keep his sanity in this nightmare. He sank to his knees, unable to bear the weight of it all anymore and cried out in rage. The laughter stopped and Tharik materialized before him, with his rapier drawn. The kamael looked more majestic here then in the flesh, his clothes and armor seemed to shine even when there was no light here, it was as if he was the light itself. His wing was neatly groomed as was his hair which was tied neatly into a pony tail. The kamael's red eyes was what caught Dachande the most, the eyes and the disdain they held for him.
"I.....hate you." Dachande spoke in a bitter, venomous tone as he fixed his emerald eyes upon his tormentor.
I know. Tharik's calm voice echoed. He drew closer to the dark knight. Here is a little secret. I hate you too, and so does she.
"Liar!!" Dachande screamed and grabbed his blades. He struck, and this time he found resistance. Tharik's rapier. The knight shifted his blades, spun around and came in for a side attack only to have that blocked as well. He narrowed his eyes and attacked again. Both the Knight and the Soul Breaker fought on furiously, it would seem that there would be no end to the battle, but then Dachande saw it, a crack on the rapier's blade. He renewed his attack, striking again and again. Tharik blocked or parried the attacks repeatedly but never seemed to notice the crack, which spread further along the weapon. You can't beat me, so why bother trying? He lunged and struck the knight a back handed blow with the pommel of his weapon and staggered him back. This is the end, Dachande.
The knight narrowed his eyes and smirked for the first time since the battle started. "...for you." He swung with his blades and as he expected Tharik blocked, except this time his weapon shattered from the impact and Dachande's ravenous blades continued their descent, right into the Kamael's flesh. Everything went silent and time seemed to slow for Dachande the moment he shattered Tharik's weapon. He could hear his own heartbeat, beating in slow rhythm as his blades sailed past the Kamael's guard. He smiled with an almost insane glee in his eyes as he knew what his weapons would do to Tharik's life force and his soul. He will never take Siluviel from him again. The blades connected with the Kamael's flesh, and he shattered like glass.
Dazed and confused, the knight staggered back a bit and tried to make sense of what just happened, but then a soft familiar voice called out to him from behind. "Dachande.."
He turned around and gasped slightly. There she was, dressed in a gown as white as pearl. Her
silver hair hung loose down to her waist and her magenta eyes gazed at him with a look of sorrow.
"Siluviel." Dachande started and took a step toward her.
"I'm sorry." Siluviel spoke in a pained tone and leaned back as if to fall, only to be caught in Tharik's arms when he materialized behind her.
"No." The knight whispered and ran toward them. "Give her back!" He drew his demon blades again and summoned their power.
She is ours. Dachande heard a chilling voice just behind him and spun around. What he
saw made his jaw drop. "Impossible." He whispered when he saw not one Tharik but ten and more kept on appearing as the shards on the floor began to grow and take on a winged shape.
You should have never come between us. We warned you. Then all at once the Tharik
doubles surged at him. Dachande screamed.
*****
Dachande woke up with a gasp and bolted upright. His heart beat wildly as he looked around to
get his bearings. He was in his own bed, in his own room with his blades resting over his chest. There was no Siluviel, no Tharik or his doppelgangers. "A dream, it was all just a stupid dream." The knight rolled out of bed and walked over to a large mirror that stood by the wall. He looked at his own reflection and shivered slightly when a light breeze from the open window cooled his sweat covered body. Poor little knight. A soft, feminine and yet malicious voice echoed through Dachande's mind. So worked up over a kamael girl. Swearing oaths, promising to love and yet you don't even have her. Oh how far you have fallen, how weak and pathetic you have become.
"Enough." He hissed a warning and looked down at the demon blades still in his hands.
Enough? Laughter filled Dachande's mind. Look at yourself Dachande, a true champion of Gran Kain would have had destroyed the fool that stands in your way. She should be by your side and yet she remains with him. Do you not find it a bit odd? When Dachande did not reply the blades pushed further. She did admit that she cared for the one called Tharik.
"It's not like that." The knight finally responded.
No? Are you truly so blind? What of the words you exchanged with Tharik, he himself told you she means a lot to him, and his warning. Oh yes, you remember that don't you? It still eats away at you every night.
"Get out of my head!" Dachande snapped and tossed the blade away. The blade sailed across the room and embedded itself into the side wall.
As you wish little knight but remember, I see your dreams as well.
The knight stared at the mirror at his own reflection and scowled. How he hated when the blades invaded his mind.
"Is everything alright my lord?" A soft and yet chilling voice called out from behind him causing him to turn sharply.
"Vashanesh? What are you doing here?" Dachande replied with some surprise in his voice.
"I haven't heard from you in a while my lord, I was beginning to worry." The kamael jumped off the windowsill and entered the room.
"I've been busy." The knight cursed himself for letting his guard down and leaving the window open. He was getting careless. His eyes fell upon the kamael and studied him for a moment. "How did you find me?"
Vashanesh chuckled and walked past the knight. "I saw your mount at the stables, and your own mark on it." He paused to look at the blade embedded in the wall. "It didn't take much to find where you were staying."
Dachande frowned. "And so you came to check up on me?"
Vashanesh turned his attention away from the blade. "I would be neglecting my duties if I didn't, sir knight. Besides you did promise to teach me about Gran Kain." Somethig in the kamael's voice gave the knight the chills. He seemed to eager to want to learn, especiall for a kamael. The knight sighed.
"This is not the best time to have come for a visit, Vashanesh. Come back in a week's time, I should be ready to give you the lessons my Dark Lord has taught me then."
The kamael tilted his head and Dachande saw the look of amusement in his eyes. "As you wish my lord." Vashanesh finally said after a long pause and took a step back from the knight. He bowed his head slightly before making for the window again. "I will be around if I am needed." With that he jumped out and vanished from sight.
