Siluviel stood in the open bathroom over the tub, breathing in the steam and expelling it with a sigh. The light dinner of bread, fruit and cheese, now sitting comfortably in her belly and lending itself to the exhaustion looming just out of sight. Slipping out of her gear, she placed it carefully on the rack for the purpose, and placed the key to the house in the bottom of her alarmingly light rucksack. Moving to the door, a towel in her hand, she hesitated, staring at first the towel, then the door, then rolling her eyes and shaking her head as she lay the towel on the table nearby and closed the door. Stepping into the nearly scalding water with a soft hiss, her hands reach up to release the thick coiled mass of her hair, letting it tumble in pale silver and lavender waves to her waist. Finally, with a sigh, she sank down into the sudsy water and let the heady scented steam fill her senses. Moistening a cloth, she closed her eyes and laid back, placing the cloth over her eyes.
What price this luxury? Reaching out a slender dripping hand, graceful fingers seeking out and securing the goblet of wine she had brought with her, bringing it unerringly to her lips and reveling in the flavor and drug-like effect it had on her body. Only temporary. For her training. She needed to be in top shape and that meant, food, rest, and apparently a fabulous bath. Granted, the food was necessary. She refused to openly admit it to Tharik, but meals had been few and far between. Every coin she had managed to gain was spent on keeping her gear in top shape and for a visit to the backroom at an inn for a brief bath. Appearances were everything. She may be starving, but she knew instinctively that to show it was to admit to defeat. The bath was heavenly and the mere thought of sleeping in a bed- and a fine deep one at that- elicited a groan from her languishing body.
Tharik’s insistent offer of his home during her training was certainly generous. But something about it made Siluviel cold inside. Some fear raised its gnarly head and hissed discontent. But she wasn’t going to let fear drive her anymore. This was her chance to be worth something. To be able to stand on her own and be confident in her own strength and power. At the thought, her confidence whimpered and she sunk a little further into the water, draining the wine and setting the goblet aside. Alright, so she had a lot of work ahead of her. And maybe staying here was a good idea, and maybe it was really bad. Only time would tell. But for now…
Her eyes closed and her breathing slowed, the steady in and out of the warm moist air doing much to assist her decent. Her entire body seemed to relax at once as the water cradled her and lapped gently under her chin. Her mind ceased its nagging and meandering at last.
…Bliss.
