The flame was bright and warm, flickering, dancing in perfect darkness, perfect silence, perfect harmony.
Tejakar Paagrio!
Grokan felt the puma fur in his hands, the trophy he brought back for Shorka. It was soft and supple, pleasant to touch like the fresh grass when spring hits the immortal plateau.
The everlasting flame is in us. It is Paagrio’s gift for us. Go Paagrio’s way and the flame will grant you strength and warmth.
The wet nose of a wolf touched Grokan’s legs. It must be Kyrr who came back for hunting. The sweet smell of blood entered Grokan’s nose, made him take a deep breath.
You were successful, little friend. I am proud of you.
The flame brightened, started to dance around as if was celebrating.
A good day. Tejakar Paagrio!
“Hey greenskin!”
The flame flickered nervously. Metal, cold metal, a spearhead.
Do not move. A rock survives any storm.
“I am talking to you greenskin! Or are you too stupid to understand me?”
Grokan sat at the edge of the cliff, his eyes closed, his armor and weapons taken off and lying next to him. The human seemed to stand behind him, poking him with a spear. There were sounds of two other humans.
Stupid?! Poking something twice as big as you with a puny spear is stupid! I will…
Old memories came…
Painful memories…
“Grokan, my son…”
Something was wrong. Geiri’s father was searching for her. Why was he back and not Geiri?
“Father? Did you come here to tell me your daughter and my wife is dead?”
Oh please, by Paagrio, do not nod. DO NOT NOD NOW, FATHER!
“My daughter has fallen.”
Damn you, Geiri! Damn you and your cursed adventures!
“How?”
“She got ambushed by human thugs. I found her with all possessions stripped off her body and two dead human cutthroats still next to her.”
Those disgusting creatures even dishonored her body and took her armor and weapon! They will pay for this! THEY WILL ALL PAY!
The flame was flickering furiously. The formerly calm and quiet darkness turned into a loud inferno of human cries of agony. As Grokan opened his eyes he was standing and there were three humans lying on the ground.
“pl… please…”
Grokan slowly took out his hunting knife.
If you don’t take off their heads their cursed priests can resurrect them…
