Enedar quickly turned away his face as the danger arose Gritt could see more then she had to see.
Too much liquid in his eyes, soon it would happen. Wasn’t this what Kilandara had told him so often? To control himself better?
Damn you! Do you even have to test me long after you are gone from me?
SPLASH!
The tear has hit the ground, Gritt must have heard it. Now there was no reason to deny it.
“Farewell, sister.”
Ned turned back to Gritt. It was just too depressing to look at Kilandara. The formerly so strong matron of house Zomerana was lying in her bed, breathing and living… nothing more. Since weeks nothing but her chest has moved. If it was poison or a curse it was a good one, nobody could help her. No priest, no oracle, no alchemist… no Enedar.
“Do you want to kiss the bitch a last time? Maybe she awakes then like the cursed princesses in your stupid human books.”
Ned shook his head. He was not in the mood to be amused by Gritt’s jealousy, he was not in the mood to tell her he never touched Kilandara, he was not in the mood to explain that he loved her in different way then a lover, he was not in the mood to see how good the joke was, not in the mood to laugh, to move, to eat, to live.
“Without Kilandara there won’t be an Enedar Zomerana and a Gritt Zomerana. I was not finished with my trials and I doubt she will wake up just to accept me as her brother. Now it is only Gritt d’oerth and Ned “nothing”.
Face it, my crow, Kilandara was our protection, and now she’s gone and no obstacles are left in between us and your persecutors.”
Slowly Ned left Kilandara’s room.
Now we are back to nothing. No family, no friends, no love… just assassins at our heels.
