The rain fell down over her, the miscolour of it tainted her white hair and the sickly raindrops made rivers of red tears down her face. Lithillia barely gave it notice, not even blinking her eyelids to avoid the wet, she just continued to stare at Kuros with a new knot building in her chest.
Through the dazed state, she noticed his sudden decision to make his attack. It was too early, she thought, she had not yet come to this conclusion of fighting him yet. The instinct of her well-practiced fighting skill was what saved her. She vanished with a gasp just as he would have come close enough to impale her with his blade and she left a person shaped hole in the rain for a split second when she blinked out of harm’s way. The kamael re appeared a few meters behind him, standing where he had been just seconds before, the rain hammering down around her.
Her face held the surprised look on it, but when she was able to move again she shifted the swords in her hands quickly. No matter if she had not thought all things through, she could not let him kill her just like that. She had no wish to die, and in her confidence, she really thought she could bring him down.
“So this is it then? You will get rid of me finally?” She spoke out loudly to win over the sound of the rain and storm closing in on them. The hollow tone that tainted the voice made her sound even more like the weapon she was, and it warned him against to further challenge her. “What was it all good for?” She continued, and turned around to face him with swords now ready and a display of hurt in her eyes that she could not manage to hide. “You found me almost dead. I was shattered and broken. Why take care of me, why nurse me back to health if this is the end result.” The words would not stop now that she had started talking, but she made a slight pause before she spoke next. She could not believe that he would have used such resources and time for no purpose, it had to be more than just simple curiosity that had made him go to such length and keep her alive.
“Why did you lie to ME as well?” Her voice faltered when she revealed the biggest question of them all. Lithillia was most of all offended, hurt that he had not trusted her enough to share with her his secret. Had she not been loyal to him? Had she not proved herself to him yet? Had she not risked her own life saving him from the avalanche, breaking the impact with her own body? Had she not saved his life in return?
She did not expect answers, but she could not hold back the questions. The knot both iced and burned in her chest and made her feel just as sick as the rain tasted to her. For old time’s sake or for the loyalty she felt towards Dachande, she gave him the chance to stop his assault. She awaited his next move without making a counter attack and the voice in her mind did not break her thoughts once to tell her what a fool she was for still hoping.
